Burberry Celebrates Earth Day With a Sustainably Minded Collection

Sustainability has been a hot topic in the fashion industry as of late, with more brands than ever putting eco-friendly fashion at the forefront of their strategies. It’s no surprise that more and more companies are creating sustainably minded collections, as consumer demand for these types of products has increased dramatically. Lyst even reported a 75% year over year increase in 2019 for searches mentioning sustainable fashion.

Though the impact of manufacturing and production that fashion has on our earth has become more top of mind for luxury brands, it’s also challenging for them to implement earth-friendly techniques into their manufacturing processes. Business of Fashion reported on this growing issue, stating that sustainability is one of the greatest challenges facing the industry this year. Though there has been some progress, “fashion hasn’t yet taken its environmental responsibilities seriously enough,” the State of Fashion report also mentioned.

Burberry is joining the growing list of brands doing their part to help the environment this year. Just in time for Earth Day, the brand released a collection of bags, clothing and accessories that are crafted from sustainable fabrics and circular materials. The collection, which the brand is calling the ReBurberry Edit, is designed to have a positive impact on our plant.

ECONYL® is a recycled nylon fabric which is made from regenerated fishing nets, industrial plastic and fabric scraps. This innovative material was used throughout the collection to create both sustainable outerwear and bags. The edit includes bumbags, totes and backpacks all made from recycled nylon. Prices range from $590 for a small bum bag to $1,490 for a backpack. Take a look at bags from the collection below and discover the full edit via Burberry.com.
